Financial Aid
Types of Financial Aid:
- Grants - Grants are FREE and do not need to be repaid.
- Scholarships - Apply for scholarships each Spring at VHS. Do not need to be repaid.
- Workstudy - This program will help students earn money while working in college.
- Loans - Student and Parent Federal Loans. Must be repaid.
- Waived Fees
- Book Vouchers

Financial Aid - FAFSA
The 2023-2024 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) becomes available on October 1, 2023 and must be completed by March 1, 2024 in order to be eligible for a Cal Grant and receive priority for free tuition. Many students do not realize that they qualify for Financial Aid benefits. It is recommended that every student complete their FAFSA form in order to qualify for specific financial aid. (Please be sure to listen for school announcements re: VHS FAFSA Workshops.)
STEP 1: Watch this FAFSA INFORMATIONAL VIDEO before you begin.
To complete your FAFSA, you will need the following information:
- Your Social Security Number. Your Parents/Guardians must also provide their Social Security Numbers.
- A FSA ID to sign electronically (Click on link to learn how to create an ID) ** Parents will also needs to create their own FSA ID.
- Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned. (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
STEP 2: Please click on FAFSA to begin the process. (NOTE: The FAFSA is a FREE Application. If you are asked to pay a fee, you are not on the official federal website.)

STEP 2: Students must log into the CSAC website to create Username and Password
STEP 3: Fill out Student GPA Verification Form and submit to VHS Registrar in Main Office.
STEP 4: Follow up with Registrar to confirm GPA Verification Form has been sent to chosen College.
